A few pictures of Blake :)

We came home from the hospital on Sunday, June 27th around 5pm. Carter was SO excited to bring Blake home with us :) He is such a wonderful big brother and says things like "Maybe he wants a toy" or "See Blake, this is our house!" He loves to hold him, kiss him, touch his "witto baby hands," and he just stares at him while we're in the car. This morning we took Carter to school, and all his friends gathered to get a good look at Carter's baby brother. One little boy went to lean forward to get a closer look and Carter threw his arm in front of the little boy to stop him...he said "No - don't touch." Very protective, apparently. We are all doing great and can't wait for everyone to meet our precious little Blake.

He's here!!

Blake Anthony Sutton was born on Friday, June 25 at 2:03pm (Uncle Dane's 17th Birthday). He weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. The c-section was very smooth and we are all doing great! More updates to follow :) Thank you for all of your prayers - he's perfect!!

Strawberry Picking

It was the perfect morning for picking strawberries! Kinda cloudy, kinda breezy. I gave Carter the choice to either go home and play outside, or go pick strawberries at the farm..."Mommy, they have tractors there? I want pick strawberries. Please, please, Mommy, please." How could I say no? He picked about 10 berries and spent the rest of the time running up and down the rows. The highlight for him...the hayride.

Toy Story Mania!

The very first movie (besides Barney) that Carter was ever interested in was Toy Story...the original...on VHS...from when Uncle Dane was little. Carter got Buzz Lightyear from Santa, and we gave him Woody as a reward for pottytraining in January. We rented Toy Story 2 one weekend this winter and got him both on DVD for his birthday. He occasionally asks to watch "The one with the guy - he has a beard" or "the one with Bullseye." SO, the Toy Story mania in the last few months anticipating the release of Toy Story 3 has been right up Carter's alley! He loves looking at all the new toys in the stores. And, we've been making a big deal out of going to see the movie the weekend it came out - especially because the following weekend would be consumed with the new baby brother. So, on Saturday evening, Carter put on his new Toy Story t-shirt and off we went to his very first movie theater experience. He was so excited - and honestly, so were we :) Evan and I would lay in bed at night and say "I'm really excited to take him to see Toy Story!" Carter refused to use a booster seat, and the regular seat swallowed him right up - so he sat on Daddy's lap the entire show (Mommy no longer has a lap!). He didn't make a peep, except for "I want my Slurpee, please." I'm not sure if he really followed the story or understood the humor. But he sure did soak it all in! It was a really fun evening together.

Another injury for Carter

This morning Carter landed himself yet another injury on his face that will make his 4th scar...his 3rd on the left side! He was home with a babysitter while I went to work and Evan finished up at a Masters Swim course. I wasn't even at work for 20 minutes when I found out that Carter fell and got a "pretty deep cut" from the fireplace. (We made it over 3 years without fireplace injuries!) I closed up the pharmacy and raced home to find my poor baby boy with a puffy eyebrow and Handy Manny "bam-baid." I could only see the edge of the cut under the band-aid, but could tell that it needed to at least be glued shut. I took him to the pediatrician, which he was not happy about and immediately cried as the doctor took the band-aid off. The doctor poked and prodded to see how deep and how wide the cut was. It's over an inch long - and Evan and I both gasped as we saw how deep it was. It's definitely worthy of at least 5 stitches but the doctor was pleased at how well it closed up when she pulled it tight...so she decided to clean it up and glue the heck out of it with Dermabond skin glue. Carter screamed - it's so hard to see him upset like that. There was no comforting him...and I hated it. However, when he had to get stitches in September, the "conscious sedation" part was the absolute WORST and i'm glad we didn't have to go through it again for this injury. Besides, the glue will result in less of a scar. Plus, it's easier to take care of and will irritate him less...hopefully. The glue has to stay dry for at least 5 days and will wear off on it's own. Carter, so far, has not been bothered by it at all. He is most upset about the fact that we wouldn't let him run today. He could not hold back the tears when we explained that we'd pitch him some baseballs but he wasn't allowed to run or slide today. Such torture for him! I should mention that the cut itself it not nearly as big as it looks in these pictures. He was screaming as the Dr tried to hold the cut closed and apply the glue, so blood kept bubbling out of the cut and the glue dried on top of it. Anyway, we're SO glad he's ok!!

Spray 'N Play

We spent Friday afternoon at the Spray Park with some of our best buds...Molly, Brady, and Brenna...Lindsay, Merrick, and Aidan...and Becky, Eli, and Owen. We munched on watermelon and Nutter Butter cookies, ran through the water, and the kids chased each other. Spending time with all these little babies really gets Carter excited for his baby brother to come. This morning he asked to see pictures of "Molly's baby" again. When I opened them on the computer, he giggled, hugged me, and said "I so excited for my baby brother now! He coming in few weeks!" These are the days that we'll remember!

Carter's "Bieber Fever"

A few weeks ago, Evan was singing the Justin Bieber song "Baby, Baby, Baby, Ohhhhh...." (which I had never heard before). So, to pick on him just a little bit, I saved the Oprah, Ellen Degeneres, and American Idol shows with Justin Bieber. Well, it seems as though we have another Bieber fan in the house...Mr. Carter. Apparently, he was singing "Baby, Baby, Baby, Ohhh...." at the Tigers game on Monday. Before he headed to bed, I wanted to get it on video. So tonight we had our nightly living room baseball game, in which Carter wore his new Tigers batting helmet and used a Michigan drumstick as a bat (I guess a bat isn't challenging enough anymore - he needs something thinner and shorter!)...and I turned on the Ellen Degeneres show to see if my own little Justin Bieber would perform for me. I wish he wasn't so camera shy, but this was the best I could get! Enjoy!
